    Description

    The Grand Antique Mall, located in Cincinnati, Ohio, presents an
    H.G. Fischer & Company of Chicago Electric Shock Therapy Machine, produced in 1910
    . VG++. Original condition including finish. Machine is housed in walnut wood and sits atop a matching walnut wheeled cart.
    Caster wheels marked NOELTING FAULTLESS.
    The hinged, beveled glass cover for the machine is original. Wheeled cart has a side drawer for diathermy accessories; inside the drawer is the original plug-in cord. Polished walnut
    case has the original finish. Type G2, AMP 6, Cycle 60, Volts 110, Serial Number 33573. The machine was used for short wave “diathermy”, i.e., electric shock therapy. The apparatus brings to mind the pain and anxiety of patients who once submitted to such a device. The list is long and most patients forgotten, save for a few of the famous patients like Judy Garland, Sylvia Plath, Ernest Hemmingway, Dick Cavett. Entire piece = 36”H x 26”W x 18”D. Weight = 90 lbs.
